Strange Beefy Burgers in Public Spaces

This is most gigantic inflatable burger I have
ever seen! I am a vegetarian, so let's just say
that Carl's Jr. now offers a very large soy
burger.

I was driving over by where the media had
parked as the police were raiding Michael
Jackson's doctors office, and saw this
burger around the corner. No, i'm
not a stalker. I was just in the
area :)

I couldn't stop and take a photo
in front of the medical offices,
so I figured this inflatable
burger would do in its
place. You can even
see the news
helicoptor
above.

Squint hard it's there!

A Beefy Pugs Life

Over the weekend, Penny had time to
relax and hang out inside. The heat
out here is killing us. We used to
think 75 degrees was hot. Here,
the summer temperatures have
reached 115-120 degrees.
That kind of heat does
not agree with a pug.

Since Penny hasn't been able to leave
the air conditioned condo, she had
time to reflect on...her toy box.
She has a huge pile of toys
I have collected for her
over the years, yet she
has favorites and only
seems to like 4
of them at the
moment.

This photo was taken over the weekend.
Penny surrounded herself with every
toy she owns and posed with them.
She loves any photo opportunity
she can get.

More Vintage Penny!

Penny has been inside today because of the heat and
rain taking place outside. She hates rain so much,
she is currently pressing her beefy pug butt
against the glass window and mooning
everone still out there. Or maybe she
is just mooning the rain, i'm not
sure. If only I knew what she
thinks about. I could make
a lot of money reading
pug minds.

Since she's bored and we're inside, we thought
we would share more glamour shots of Penny!

Vintage Penny!

There once was a non-grey chinned beefy puppy
named Penny, and she was a model right from
the start. Never one to shy away from the
camera, Penny has hundreds of photos
and I want to share some
with you!

Beefy dogs unite! Send me a photo of your
beefy dog and i'll post them here!

Lightning and a Pug

I was out walking Penny the other night,
and we saw this amazing lightning storm
taking place across the whole Las
Vegas valley.

I figured I would have to take Penny
inside because she would be afraid
of it. Instead, she took a seat
in one of the covered spaces
in the parking lot, and
began barking at the
lighting refusing
to back down.

The storm went on for a few hours,
but I only captured a few minutes.
Here is the footage.

Beefy Dog Separation. Someone Break Out The Junk Food

Penny just found out her next door neighbor bulldog
boyfriend is moving! She's been upset by this lately.
They were hanging out last night, and as his beefy
bulldog butt walked away, he turned to give her
one last beefy love look.

I wish I had a picture of them together. They are
ridiculously cute. This is Penny's first boyfriend.
She's pretty anti-social with other dogs, so
the fact that she gets along with him so
well is a rarity.

If anyone in the Las Vegas or San Francisco area
wants to get their beefy dogs together let me
know. I'm thinking about starting a Beefy
Dog Social. I may have to bring a beefy
substitute dog since Penny isn't all
that social. She might be into it
though if there are other dogs
there that are beefy and
around her size.

Strange Things in Public Spaces

I haven't been in Las Vegas very long. So of course, it's my
worst nightmare to have a medical emergency in a state
I am unfamiliar with. Just like dreams, nightmares do
come true. I went to the doctor the other day;
because there is a pretty strong chance I have
appendicitis or something that is equivalently
painful. This was the first time I have ever
been to a doctor out here, so when my
doctor introduced himself as Staples,
I knew I was in trouble.

After checking in and waiting in the room for over an hour,
my doctor emerged in a silky black suit (I didn't know
these existed either), a silver belt buckle that said
something I won't even type here. And crocodile
boots shiny enough to match his outfit.

This should have alarmed me, but for some reason it didn't.
Looks can be deceiving, because this doctor was very nice.
Unfortunately, he neglected to tell me he was taking off
for a week, and I would need to find another doctor to
read my emergency x-ray results he ordered the
previous day. I don't know why it takes triple
the time to get things done here, but it
just does. I want to love this state, but
I can't. It's cheating on me with
a stripper.

The moral of this short story is: if you are having a
medical problem, don't assume your doctor will
be wearing a white coat and stethoscope
around his/her neck. Instead, look for a
guy named Staples who is dressed
straight out of a movie and might
abandon his practice to jet off
at a moments notice.

Penny, We’re Not In California Anymore

Penny and I are relatively new to Nevada. We figured we would
take some strolls around our neighborhood to check things
out, and familiarize ourselves with things.

The other night we were at the park after the day had finally
started to cool. Penny was walking on the grass as I was
beside her on the pavement. In a matter of moments,
the biggest mini tarantula jumped out of the grass
and onto the pavement near my feet.

I am not exaggerating when I blog to you that this spider
was hairy and as big as a small child. Ok maybe not
that big, but it was about the size of a teacup
chihuahua.

You would have thought we were being chased by a crazy
naked man, because we ran so fast outta there.
I didn’t have my camera handy at the time, plus
I wasn’t about to go back there and take a
photo, but the photo above is of a spider
I saw the other night outside our condo.

The other photo is of a scorpion we ran into a few
days ago. I can’t believe that people out here
actually sit and lay on the grass at night!
I should start warning people,
especially those with pets.

Food Please, My Pug Stomach is Hungry

Penny woke up really early this morning.
We watched the memorial service for
Michael Jackson. I tend to let her
sleep in a bit, otherwise she
thinks about food and only
food all day long

The photo above illustrates what
she does with her bowls when
she wants food. She bangs
them together until the
noise is so unbearable,
I either pick them up,
or give in.

She has a one track mind, and
she will do whatever it takes
to get what she wants.

If you have a pug, then you know what
i'm talking about when I say, it's
like raising a kid on some days.
But, I wouldn't have it
any other way.

Strange Things in Public Spaces

On the night of July 5, 2009.
A woman was seen in the
communal hot tub
scrubbing her feet
with a loofah.

Happy 4th! Keep your pets safe! They need their fur for a lot of things

Penny and I wish you a Happy 4th of July!
Make sure you keep your pets indoors tonight
so the fireworks don’t scare them.

Penny will be at home tonight watching Spongebob,
while the rest of the family goes out to watch fireworks.

Don’t worry though, she had a fun day
filled with delicious snacks.

Even Pugs Love Michael Jackson

I've been trying to get Penny to do something
today besides lay around and watch old
Michael Jackson music videos.

She really loves Billy Jean and Thriller.

Right now she's at the foot of the bed
watching the greatest entertainer of
all time, Michael Jackson.

Antibiotics Taste Better with Dessert

I’m sure a lot of pet parents find it difficult to find ways to get
your pet child to take their medications or antibiotics.
I know I did over the years when Penny had to be on
medication for various reasons.

I always struggled with the “put in your dogs mouth and
get her to swallow it.” I couldn’t bear it, so I got creative.

I bought some fat-free Cool Whip and put about a spoonful
on a plate. I hid the pill(s) in it and she never knew.

Sometimes I would break the pill in half if the doctor gave the
OK. She thought the Cool Whip was so delicious,
she literally swallowed the pills with one lick.

I still do this if she needs antibiotics.
It also started the habit and her love of whipped cream
and cool whip. She knows what both containers look like,
and she needs it badly if someone has it out.

After the Beefy Party, There's a Long Beefy Nap

Penny partied pretty hard yesterday for her birthday, so
she's tired today and has been hanging out
here at the condo.

It's impossibly hot at about 105-110 degrees here in Vegas.
She can't go out for more than 5 minutes at a time, but
we might go to the park later tonight if
it cools off.
